PageRank Plus - Google PageRank checking, with a twist.

JB of Skirmisher suggests that I should “post data from other (sources) and not (just) Alexa” to show a more accurate ranking of selected websites and blogs, most especially mine.

I think JB’s concern is understandable as Alexa only generates data from browsers that have its plugins (Toolbar or Sparky), making the data not representative of the global online community.

I also agree with JB that Technorati data are also good indicators of a blog’s popularity. That explains why the “Blog stats” section of my sidebar has both my Technorati rank and authority, even if they’re not impressive at present.

As a rejoinder of sorts to my previous post, I find it necessary to include other relevant site statistics for both my main website and blog so that online users can better assess if I should be congratulated, which was what Maki, Schumey and dYu did yesterday. (Much as I would want to gather the same statistics for selected websites and blogs, I cannot due to my very tight schedule.)

Just a quick note about risingsun.dannyarao.com’s Unique Visitors and Number of Visits data: The blog started on 29 March 2007, which means that there is no data on it from January 1 to March 28.

So, are congratulations really in order? Your comments will be highly appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Good looking stats there. Iba talaga ang Pinoy. Nicely done :)

Reply: Actually, your blog has better stats. It’s quite informative. I’ll definitely require my students to check it out.

Eventhough some ranking systems these days are not that reliable (Google PRs Fluctuating, Blogs using PPP penalized etc.), what matters most is how you and your readers value your blog. Content is king. :)

Reply: I agree. That’s what I always tell my Online Journalism and Publication Design and Layout class, “Content is king!” — the sexist tone notwithstanding. Ha ha. Cheers!

    Danny,

Numbers are just numbers, what is important is if you are getting your message across. I love reading your posts and never fail visiting your site to check out your new entries. Congratulations are definitely in order. Kudos to you.

Reply: I truly appreciate your kind words. I agree that we should assess on the basis of both quantity and quality. The only reason I am fixated on site stats of yours, mine, and a few others is that they can give us an idea of how wide our reach is. As you know, articulating online one’s stand is one thing: Getting the message across requires more hard work on our part so that we can reach out to other like-minded online users. Cheers!

hey danny, just for the benefit of anyone who somehow still “buys” alexa’s stats in this day and age.
