end impunity logoThe UP College of Mass Communication (UP CMC) commemorates the fourth year of the Ampatuan massacre and the third year of the International Day to End Impunity with the unveiling of the marker for the Freedom of Information (FOI) garden on November 22 (Friday), 11:30 a.m. at the garden of CMC, UP Diliman. There will also be speeches and cultural presentations as the UP CMC community remembers the 58 people, including the 32 journalists and media workers, who were killed on November 23, 2009.

After the activity, the UP CMC students, faculty and staff, together with members of the End Impunity Alliance, will march around the UP academic oval.

Fifteen widows of the victims of the Ampatuan massacre, as well as selected students and faculty of the UP College of Law, will join the mobilization as the contingent passes by Malcolm Hall. Upon returning to Plaridel Hall, they will travel to Manila to join the human chain at Rajah Sulayman Park, Roxas Boulevard, in solidarity with media groups led by the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP).

At the UP College of Law, Prof. Harry Roque announces that there will be a mass in the morning of November 22 (Friday) to be led by running priest Fr. Robert Reyes. In behalf of the widows, Roque will file a case before the United Nations to compel the Philippine state to give compensation to the victims of the Ampatuan massacre. These activities will be held at the Santiago Room of the UP College of Law.
