RISING ARTISTS AND BANDS PLEDGE 100% SUPPORT TO #1000meals4UPTacloban

It is going to be a night of folk and rock, native and modern elements as 19 rising artists and bands unite on January 30 (Thursday) to support the #1000meals4UPTacloban benefit concert organized by the Congress of Teachers and Educators for Nationalism and Democracy (CONTEND UP) and Rock Loqal Joyride Sessions at the University of the Philippines Diliman Amphitheatre.

Topping the list of performers are underground bands such as Datu’s Tribe, Autotelic, Plagpul, Rock LoQal bands’ Fuseboxx, Progeny, and Day of Collapse. UP bands and artists such as Anton and the Salvadors, Lights in Transit, The YEAH GOs!, Ourselves The Elves, Juan Sound, Tonight We Sleep, and The Squibs will also rock the stage for UP Tacloban. Kinaiya and Musikang Bayan will also render their all-original compositions about the environment and the unflinching struggle of the Filipino people.

Strong and outstanding solo acts Bullet Dumas, Johnoy Danao, Toto Sorioso and Tao Aves complete the roster of performers known not only for their musical prowess and artistry but also for their genuine support for the cause.

Several artworks specially created and donated by some of the faculty and students from the UP College of Fine Arts will be raffled during the benefit concert.

“A Thousand Meals for UP Tacloban” campaign aims to address the needs of UP Tacloban students and staff who were devastated by Typhoon Yolanda last November 8, 2013. This activity is in response to the call to continuously and consistently support the survivors after the initial phase of relief operations last year. In fact, the survivors and victims need more support and assistance of all members of the community at this time.

Primarily, this event is a fund-raising drive to provide meals to UP Tacloban students and staff. It is also a venue to raise the level of awareness of the community regarding the issues and concerns after the disaster and demand government accountability.

Tickets are sold at the UP Diliman College of Mass Communication and at the University Student Council at Vinzon’s Hall. All proceeds of the benefit concert will go to UP Tacloban students and staff through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs of UP Diliman.
