UP professors, employees call for salary increase

What: Press conference on salary upgrading

When: May 22 (Thursday), 11:30 a.m.

Where: Auditorium of School of Labor and Industrial Relations (SOLAIR), UP Diliman, Quezon City (beside UP Institute of Small-Scale Industries or ISSI)

Who: All-UP Workers Alliance (composed of All-UP Workers Union and All-UP Academic Employees Union)

Why: To show support for House Bill Nos. 245 and 246 filed by ACT Teachers Partylist.

HBN 245 seeks to increase the minimum monthly salaries of public school teachers to P25,000; and non-teaching personnel, P15,000. On the other hand, HBN 246 seeks to upgrade the minimum salary grade of public higher education teaching personnel from Salary Grade 12 to 16.

  • Presentation of payslips by UP professors and employees to prove that “their take-home pay cannot take them home.”
  • Speeches of the national presidents of All-UP Workers Union and All-UP Academic Employees Union and all chapter presidents of UP’s constituent units.
