Launch of `Oligarchic Politics’ and election forum on May 8

Oligarchic Politics book cover

If you have time, please attend the launch of the book Oligarchic Politics: Elections and the Party-List System in the Philippines on May 8 (Tuesday), 10 a.m. at Balay Kalinaw, Guerrero corner Dagohoy Streets, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, Quezon City. There will also be a forum on Philippine elections after the launch.

Published by the Center for People Empowerment in Governance (CenPEG), the book’s contributors are yours truly, Francis A. Gealogo (Ateneo de Manila University), Ely H. Manalansan, Jr. (I know that he used to be with IBON Foundation), Felix P. Muga II (Ateneo de Manila University), Temario C. Rivera (International Christian University, Tokyo) and Roland G. Simbulan (University of the Philippines Manila). Dr. Elmer Ordoñez (professor emeritus, UP Department of English) wrote the foreword and Bobby Tuazon (CenPEG) edited the entire book. During the launch, Prof. Felipe Miranda (UP and Pulse Asia) will present his review of the book.

I wrote the chapter on media and personality politics. This is a book worth reading especially now that elections are just a few days away. And with the electoral campaign nearing its end, I’m sure that we have a lot to discuss during the forum, so I hope that you can make it.

Thank you for your attention and see you on May 8.
