Embattled ABS-CBN workers to speak at UP forum

Representatives of ABS-CBN employees belonging to the Internal Job Market (IJM) will speak at a forum on November 17 (Wednesday), 1 to 4 p.m. at the auditorium of the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication (UP CMC) in Diliman, Quezon City.

Titled “Off the Record: The Continuing Struggle of the ABS-CBN IJM Workers’ Union,” the forum aims to update interested groups and individuals on the labor dispute at ABS-CBN. In the context of media studies, students and faculty members are also expected to analyze why this issue received little coverage in the mainstream media.

Aside from IJM, representatives from the Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) will speak at the forum.

The reactors will be Rowena Paraan (National Union of Journalists of the Philippines), Jemimah Grace Garcia (UP Diliman University Student Council) and Luis Teodoro (Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility and former dean of UP CMC).

The forum is organized by the Union of Journalists of the Philippines-UP (UJP-UP) and the UP CMC.
