Academicians nationwide call for PNoy resignation tomorrow (February 19)
Five days after Valentine’s Day, teachers’ hearts continue to bleed for the nation!
Academicians from all over the Philippines led by the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) will call on President Noynoy Aquino’s resignation tomorrow (February 19), 10 a.m. at Bacolod Chicken Inasal restaurant located in Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City.
They are part of the movement to be launched tomorrow called “Save Our Nation: Aquino Resign!” that holds Aquino accountable for what it describes as seven “fatal mistakes committed during the Mamasapano bloody incident last January 25, 2015.”
These mistakes are (1) failure to act as commander-in-chief; (2) breaking of the chain of command; (3) giving fatal orders to the PNP Special Action Forces (SAF); (4) ordering a stand down and a betrayal of his own men; (5) violation of the ceasefire agreement with the MILF; (6) blindly following an ill advice by his US handlers; and (7) betrayal of public trust by continuously hiding the truth from the people.
The movement calls for the formation of a national transition council “to replace Aquino in order to initiate meaningful reforms, form a truth commission on the crimes of the Aquino regime and prepare for the next national elections.”
Among the panelists at the February 19 media launch are National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera, Prof. Roland Simbulan (UP Manila), Prof. Noel Leyco (Asian Institute of Management), Dr. Rowie Madula (De La Salle University) and Dr. Francis Gealogo (Ateneo de Manila University).
Media coverage is requested. Interviews and photo opportunities are available.
