Family members join concerned UP students, professors, employees at press conference tomorrow (April 16)

Concerned members of the University of the Philippines (UP) community will hold a protest walk around the UP Academic Oval in UP Diliman at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow (April 16) to highlight the case of Mary Jane Veloso.

The assembly point of the protest walk is the Sunken Garden across Vinzons Hall.

Protesters will also tie white ribbons around selected trees of the UP Academic Oval to symbolize the need to save her.

Veloso is a 30-year old single mother currently on death row in Indonesia due to drug-related charges.

A press conference is scheduled to be held at the Vinzons Hall lobby at 11:30 a.m. also on April 16. Veloso’s family will be there at the press conference.

Speakers will shed light on international law, human rights, human trafficking, drug trafficking, government’s labor export policy, and widespread unemployment.
